When this trend first emerged last spring / summer, I really wasn’t sure about it, but after investing in some hareem style leopard print trousers I changed my mind. Now, this season after the trend hit the runway for summer 2012 with designers including Stella McCartney, Mary Katrantzou and Peter Pilotto, printed trousers are everywhere and here is how to wear them:
As you can see they do actually work well as part of an outfit, I prefer the skinny fit teamed with a blazor for a more sophisticated take on the trend. I’m also a fan of the diverse range of printed leggings which have surfaced this season, here’s a flavour:
My only gripe with leggings is that I insist the bum must be covered, nothing worse than a leggings bum with a vpl – hideous! I think they are a great way to inject some colour and life into an outfit, as well as being comfortable. Here are some of the best from the High Street / Internet:
ASOS – www.asos.com
£30 £52 £30
£28 £20 £26
Topshp – www.topshop.com
£20 £20 £20
£40 £28 £28
River Island – www.riverisland.com
£18 £18 £20
£22 £25 £35
The trousers and leggings don’t look particularly good by themselves, but once you get them layered with a long vest or t-shirt and blazor, some heels and a clutch you’ll be the height of sophistication! Printed trousers what do you think? XOXO
