My favourite trend at the moment which will be continuing into Autumn / Winter is the jumper with collar detailing, it’s cute, it’s girly and it can be worn in different ways. Collars are currently having a moment which is quite new in the world of fashion, but the development of the embellished collar has opened up a number of styling possibilities:

As you can see the look can vary; whether your going for a smart workwear look, a more casual outfit or a girly ensemble, you can use this trend to create more focus on basic pieces and dress up a casual outfit. A collar showing over a jumper can create a more sophisticated edge on a basic jumper and jeans combination.

What has really surprised me is how far collar detailing has come, what was once a mere collar to structure the neckline of shirt is now a key fashion trend. This year the peter pan collar became a styling point followed by the studded collar which became very popular and this has evolved to sequin collars and also collar necklaces. You don’t even need to buy a garment to wear under the jumper, just add the collar over the top. I quite like the pearl collar look as I think it’s tres stylish and I could see Coco Chanel wearing it. You can also buy collar tips to clip on the end of the collar to create extra detailing, I like this idea as you can use them to customise different outfits.
